Of the 4+ million small and medium businesses in the United States today, all of them have accounting needs, and roughly half of them have an Internet presence, whether it's a piece of brochure-ware or a dynamic e-commerce site selling “widgets.” Over a cup of tea one day, discussions about how each of us does our work led to a deeper discussion about the commonality of that work. It seemed a natural fit, then, for an accounting firm and a web development firm to merge consulting services - - we each measure efficiency of process in one way or another, and those interests are synergistic in nature.

Thevenin, Lynch and Bienvenue, LLP is KISS Computing, Inc.'s accountants, and KISS is TLB's webmaster. We've gotten to know each other well in each of those roles, and have learned that each of us presents skill sets valuable to the work of the other. Each of us offers consulting services to measure a business's operations, with the goal to help those businesses improve their operations and grow revenues.

Beyond consulting services, though, we came to realize that the Internet offered us the vehicle to deliver needed services not only to our respective clients, but also to all SMBs everywhere. The world is changing quickly, as we all know, and company staffs are more diverse in make-up today as a result - - a mix of in-office and telecommuting members, but with a need to be on the same page at all times in the common purpose of the business. The first tool we developed to meet the needs of this new breed of business is a Project- and Task-centric team oriented system to enable all members of a company's staff to share vital information, and communicate project and task needs to each other no matter where those staff members worked.

Richard Bienvenue, CPA, and Rob Lynch, CPA, manage the staff of 15+ at TLB. Each has a wealth of experience representing commercial enterprises, non-profit organizations and municipalities throughout New England. TLB, itself, is the perfect example of today's company - - multiple offices, as well as home offices, so the in-house as well as the telecommuting staff composition. TLB understands, both by its work as well as its own makeup, the needs of today's SMBs, and brings that knowledge to all of its work.

Michael McGrath and Josiah Cole head the team of programmers, designers and production personnel that make up KISS Computing, Inc. With over 600 web sites, and more than 75 custom software applications developed for them, in its ten+ year history, KISS represents clients all over the world. It, too, is another example of today's company - - multiple offices, and half of its staff telecommuting - - and understands the needs of today's SMBs and their web presence.
